Mutation of genes affecting the RAS pathway is common in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
It is shown that somatic mutations that deregulate the pathway constitute one of the most common genetic aberrations in childhood ALL (cALL), being found in 35% of diagnostic and 25% of relapse samples, and inhibitors of the pathway may be a novel therapeutic option for cALL, particularly at relapse.
Skeletal, dentoalveolar, and soft tissue cephalometric measurements of Malay transfusion-dependent thalassaemia patients.
The skeletal, dentoalveolar, and soft tissue features of Malay transfusion-dependent thalassaemia patients with a Malay control group were compared to show a similar sagittal relationship to the control group but with a significantly increased mandibular plane inclination.
Classification of acute leukaemia cells using multilayer perceptron and simplified fuzzy ARTMAP neural networks
The results significantly demonstrate the suitability of the proposed features and classification using MLP and SFAM networks for classifying the acute leukaemia cells in blood sample.
Guidelines for nucleic acid detection and analysis in hematological disorders.
Nucleic acid detection in hematological disorders has been carried out in a wide range of medical fields or departments. Hence, it is recommended that the hematology laboratory should draw up…
Unsupervised Segmentation Technique for Acute Leukemia Cells Using Clustering Algorithms
Results indicate that moving k-means clustering algorithm has successfully produced the fully segmented blast region in acute leukaemia image, indicating that the resultant images could be helpful to haematologists for further analysis of acuteLeukaemia.

The study on blasts classifying in acute leukemia into two major forms which are acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) and acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL) by using k-NN shows that by having k = 4 and applying cosine distance metric, the accuracy obtained could reach up to 80%.

This method has successfully identified the mutation spectrum in the authors' cohort of transfusion-dependent beta thalassemia patients, and this method is equally effective in screening for mutation among thal Straussmia patients.
White blood cell segmentation for acute leukemia bone marrow images
The proposed method consists of gradient magnitude, thresholding, morphological operations and watershed transform to perform cells segmentation and the result showed that the method managed to obtain qualitatively good segmentation results.
