Healing of periapical lesions of pulpless teeth after endodontic treatment with controlled asepsis.
Using a careful anaerobic bacteriological technique, bacteria were shown to be eliminated from infected root canals before the endodontic treatment was finished by root filling and the majority of the 79 lesions healed completely or decreased in size in such a way that they could be expected to heal. Craniofacial morphology in preschool children with sleep‐related breathing disorder and hypertrophy of tonsils
Examination of craniofacial morphology, pharyngeal airway space and hyoid bone position in preschool children with sleep‐related breathing disorder associated with hypertrophy of tonsils (SBDT) found that GUI children had a large anterior lower facial height and a short nasal floor, whereas, like the controls, Gil children did not have a retrognathic mandible. Contact allergy to dental restorative materials in patients with oral lichenoid lesions
118 patients with oral lichenoid lesions topographically related to dental fillings were patch tested to reveal contact allergy to restorative materials, indicating association of OLL lesion and the filling material, which could be further confirmed by patch testing in the majority of patients. Influence of residual bacteria on periapical tissue healing after chemomechanical treatment and root filling of experimentally infected monkey teeth.
The present study demonstrates the importance of obtaining a bacteria-free root canal system before permanent root filling in order to achieve optimal healing conditions for the periapical tissues. Expand
Compositional dependence of bioactivity of glasses in the system Na2O-K2O-MgO-CaO-B2O3-P2O5-SiO2.
In vivo experiments showed that glasses in the investigated system are bioactive when they contain 14-30 mol % alkali oxides, 14- 30 mol % alkenes, and < 59 mol % SiO2, and glass containing potassium and magnesium bonded to bone in a similar way as bioactive glasses developed so far. Expand
Gene Expression Profiling of Ameloblastoma and Human Tooth Germ by Means of a cDNA Microarray
The gene expression profile identifies candidate genes that may be involved in the origination of ameloblastoma and several genes previously unidentified in relation to human tooth development. Expand
Stereographic assessment of mandibular canal in relation to the roots of impacted lower third molar using multiprojection narrow beam radiography.
The position of the mandibular canal in relation to the superimposed roots of 173 impacted lower 3rd molars was evaluated radiologically. A multiprojection narrow beam radiography (MNBR) techniqueExpand
Reduction of syndecan-1 expression is associated with dysplastic oral epithelium.
It is suggested that the loss of syndecan-1 is associated with dysplastic changes in oral epithelium because four of the 34 patients with Dysplasia who were followed up developed squamous cell carcinoma. Expand
Bioactive glass granules as a bone adjunctive material in maxillary sinus floor augmentation.
The results indicate that BG granules (S53P4) can be used together with AB chips for sinus floor augmentation procedure, thus decreasing the amount of bone needed. Expand
Effect of mandibular setback surgery on the posterior airway size.
Treatment of dentofacial deformities with jaw osteotomies has an effect on airway anatomy, and therefore, mandibular setback surgery has the potential to diminish airway size. The purpose of thisExpand
