The effect of artificial diet on the growth and reproduction of the aphids Myzus persicae (Sulz) and Brevicoryne brassicae (L) was studied. Following the application of [14C] phorate to the diet, the results showed that B. brassicae was more susceptible than M. persicae. In these experiments the dead and live aphids and their honeydew were also analysed.… (More)
Experiments were conducted on laboratory populations of Eriworm, Philosamia ricini Boisduval to study the effect of temperature and humidity on development, growth, survival and oviposition. Experiments were performed at four different temperatures (22 +/- 2 degrees C, 26 +/- 2 degrees C, 28 +/- 2 degrees C and 34 +/- 1 degrees C) each with three different… (More)
Variations in the susceptibility to pyrethrum and chlordane (two contact insecticides) of Lasioderma serricorne grown on different vitamin-deficient diets were studied and reasons for such variation were proposed.
The effect of foliar application of [14C] phorate on the larvae of M. persicae and B. brassicae was studied. Regression analysis of the toxic components in the foliage and the probit kill showed that B. brassicae was more susceptible to the insecticide than M. persicae. The level of radioactivity extracted from the leaves, aphids and their honeydew shows… (More)
