Expression Patterns of Non-Coding Spliced Transcripts from Human Endogenous Retrovirus HERV-H Elements in Colon Cancer
Besides the commonly accepted view of up-regulation of HERV-H expression in colon tumor tissues, this is the first research to study the character of expression of non-coding spliced transcripts of HERv-H elements in colon cancer.

Results suggest psiTPTE22‐HERV is regulated epigenetically by DNA methylation, which paved the way for further study on an interesting HERV‐related human‐specific gene, which is silenced in cancers byDNA methylation.

The results presented here recommend further investigation into a potentially functional HERV-H-related ncRNA, which lacks protein-coding capacity and may belong to the emerging class of noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs).

HerV-H-X is highly expressed in colon cancer, but its up-regulation is not related to env gene as it lacks an env ORF.
