Complete Genome Sequence of Lymphocystis Disease Virus Isolated from China
- Qi-ya Zhang, F. Xiao, J. Xie, Zhengqiu Li, J. Gui
- BiologyJournal of Virology
- 1 July 2004
The unexpected levels of divergence between their genomes in size, gene organization, and gene product identity suggest that LCDV-C and LCDv-1 shouldn't belong to a same species and that LCD-C should be considered a species different from LCD-1.
Genome architecture changes and major gene variations of Andrias davidianus ranavirus (ADRV)
- Zhong-yuan Chen, J. Gui, Xiaochan Gao, Chao Pei, Yijiang Hong, Qi-ya Zhang
- BiologyVeterinary Research

The etiologic role of ADRV in epidemic diseases of Chinese giant salamanders is confirmed, and the understanding of evolutionary emergence of ranaviruses is broadened.
Antibacterial and Antiviral Roles of a Fish β-Defensin Expressed Both in Pituitary and Testis
- Jun-Yan Jin, Li Zhou, J. Gui
- BiologyPLoS ONE
- 20 December 2010
Interestingly, the β-defensin was shown to be dominantly expressed in pituitary and testis by RT-PCR and Western blot analysis, and its transcript level is significantly upregulated in reproduction organs from intersexual gonad to testis during the natural and artificial sex reversal, suggesting that the fish β- defensin might play significant roles in both innate immunity defense and reproduction endocrine regulation.
Cultivation and characterization of the MaMV-DC cyanophage that infects bloom-forming cyanobacterium Microcystis aeruginosa
- Tong Ou, Sanhua Li, Xiang-yong Liao, Qi-ya Zhang
- BiologyVirologica Sinica

Genome analysis and gene nblA identification of Microcystis aeruginosa myovirus (MaMV-DC) reveal the evidence for horizontal gene transfer events between cyanomyovirus and host.
- Tong Ou, Xiao-chan Gao, Sanhua Li, Qi-ya Zhang
- BiologyJournal of General Virology
- 1 December 2015
Results confirm that horizontal gene transfer events have occurred between cyanobacterial host and cyanomyovirus and suggest that MaMV-DC carrying host-derived genes (such as 005L, that codes for NblA) is responsible for more efficient expression of cyanophage genes and release of progeny cyanophages.
