An experimental method to find bound states of dispersion managed solitons is presented. The pulse parameters are optimized with a genetic algorithm in a closed loop. Numerical tests of the method have already been successful.
Two types of fiber-optic soliton pairs in the presence of Raman self-frequency shift were predicted recently. We report experimental observation of one of these types and obtain good quantitative agreement.
