UNLABELLED Little is known about the mechanical behavior of resin-dentin interfaces during loading. The presence of relatively compliant hybrid and adhesive layers between stiffer dentin and resin composite should deform more during compressive loading. OBJECTIVE The objective of this study was to measure changes in microstrain across bonded dentin… (More)
Congenital heart defect (CHD) is the most common cause of death from congenital anomaly. Among several candidate epigenetic mechanisms, DNA methylation may play an important role in the etiology of CHDs. We conducted a genome-wide DNA methylation analysis using an Illumina Infinium 450k human methylation assay in a cohort of 24 newborns who had aortic valve… (More)
The study presents a case of a family whose members exhibit an X-linked retinal pigment dystrophy. The attention is called to the fact of an early onset of the disease, full development of the symptoms at an young age and a bed prognosis. The clinical characteristic of inheritance in X-linked retinal pigment dystrophy is discussed.
In this paper, spectra of aerosol optical thickness from the AERONET (AErosol RObotic NETwork) station at Hornsund in the southern part of Spitsbergen were employed to study the impact of air mass history on aerosol optical thickness for wavelength λ=500 nm – AOT(500) – and the Ångström exponent. Backward trajectories computed, using the NOAA HYSPLIT model,… (More)
PURPOSE Evaluation of automated perimetry application in diagnosis of macular diseases. MATERIAL AND METHODS Examinations were performed in 27 patients with central chorioretinopathy (CSCR), 29 patients with diabetic maculopathy, 12 patients with drusen, 13 patients with macular hole, 55 patients with age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and 23 healthy… (More)

The authors present 5 cases of nonprogressing congenital disturbances of adaptation. Electroretinogram, typical of this entity can be useful in the differential diagnosis of disorders of scotopic adaptation in other diseases.
A case of ascariasis with unilateral eyelids edema in a boy, aged 3 years, is presented. The diagnostic difficulties connected with the unusual clinical picture and course are discussed.
Contemporary views concerning examinations of the visual functions are presented. Much attention was given to the application of the discussed methods in the clinical practice.
