An RNA isolation system for plant tissues rich in secondary metabolites
- S. Ghawana, Asosii Paul, Sanjay Kumar
- BiologyBMC Research Notes
- 28 March 2011
A rapid protocol for isolation of RNA, which works well with all the tissues examined so far, and was amenable to downstream applications such as reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), differential display (DD), suppression subtractive hybridization (SSH) library construction, and northern hybridization.

- Chemistry, BiologyActa Crystallographica Section D: Biological…
- 1 August 2008
This analysis provides new insights into the copper-chelation process in SODs and several new structural features in Pa-SOD which may be responsible for its unique properties of thermostability and expanded range of antioxidant activity are highlighted.
Transcriptomic resources for the medicinal legume Mucuna pruriens: de novo transcriptome assembly, annotation, identification and validation of EST-SSR markers
- N. Sathyanarayana, Ranjith Kumar Pittala, A. Egan
- BiologyBMC Genomics
- 25 May 2017
Transcriptomic resources generated in this study provide foundational resources for gene discovery and development of molecular markers for crop improvement and can be used to investigate genes involved in L-Dopa synthesis and other key metabolic pathways in M. pruriens.
Expression of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase, p-hydroxybenzoate-m-geranyltransferase and genes of phenylpropanoid pathway exhibits positive correlation with shikonins content in arnebia…
- R. Singh, R. Gara, Sanjay Kumar
- BiologyBMC Molecular Biology
- 21 November 2010
A positive correlation between shikonins content and expression of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase (AeHMGR) and AePGT suggested critical role played by these genes in shik onins biosynthesis.
Host-Range Dynamics of Cochliobolus lunatus: From a Biocontrol Agent to a Severe Environmental Threat
- Bengyella Louis, S. D. Waikhom, N. Talukdar
- BiologyBioMed Research International
- 2 June 2014
An investigation to advance understanding of the host-range dynamics and biocontrol implications of Cochliobolus lunatus in the past decade found intraspecific variations in stromatic tissues among the virulent strains causing foliar necrosis of potato.
Characterization of gene expression of QM from Caragana jubata, a plant species that grows under extreme cold
- Pardeep K. Bhardwaj, P. Ahuja, Sanjay Kumar
- Biology, MedicineMolecular Biology Reports
- 1 February 2010
Non-responsiveness of CjQM towards DS, SA and MJ, but up-regulation in response to LT and ABA suggested a specific regulation of the gene in Caragana under varied cues.

β-aminobutyric acid mediated drought stress alleviation in maize (Zea mays L.)
- A. K. Shaw, Pardeep K. Bhardwaj, Z. Hossain
- Biology, MedicineEnvironmental science and pollution research…
- 1 February 2016
Hormonal analysis suggests that in maize, BABA-potentiated drought tolerance is primarily mediated through JA-dependent pathway by the activation of antioxidant defense systems while ABA biosynthesis pathway also plays an important role in fine-tuning of drought stress response.
