- N. Kirichenko, P. Huemer, Helmut Deutsch, P. Triberti, R. Rougerie, C. Lopez‐Vaamonde
- BiologyZooKeys
- 20 January 2015
A new gracillariid species from the south-eastern Alps is described that shows differences from its sister species Callisto coffeella in morphology, the barcode region of the cytochrome c oxidase I gene and the nuclear gene histone H3.
From east to west across the Palearctic: Phylogeography of the invasive lime leaf miner Phyllonorycter issikii (Lepidoptera: Gracillariidae) and discovery of a putative new cryptic species in East…
- N. Kirichenko, P. Triberti, C. Lopez‐Vaamonde
- Biology, Environmental SciencePLoS ONE
- 10 February 2017
The analysis of COI data of 377 insect specimens collected in 16 countries across the Palearctic revealed the presence of two different lineages: P. issikii and a putative new cryptic Phyllonorycter species distributed in the Russian Far East and Japan.
Systematics of Phyllocnistis leaf-mining moths (Lepidoptera, Gracillariidae) feeding on dogwood (Cornus spp.) in Northeast Asia, with the description of three new species
- N. Kirichenko, P. Triberti, C. Lopez‐Vaamonde
- BiologyZooKeys
- 8 February 2018
The authors re-describe the adult morphology of P. cornella, provide the first record of this species from Japan and highlight the diagnostic characters that allow these Cornus-feeding Phyllocnistis species to be distinguished.
A new genus and species of leaf-mining moth from the French Alps, Mercantouria neli gen. n., sp. n. (Lepidoptera, Gracillariidae)
- P. Huemer, C. Lopez‐Vaamonde, P. Triberti
- BiologyZooKeys
- 5 April 2016
A new gracillariid genus and species is described, Mercantouria neli, known from four adults collected at two localities in the French Alps with the morphology of the male genitalia highly differentiated with unique features.
Vallissiana universitaria (Lepidoptera: Gracillariidae): a new genus and species of leaf-mining moth associated with Erythroxylum (Erythroxylaceae) in the Atlantic Forest of Brazil.
- C. Pereira, H. ArÉvalo-Maldonado, G. Moreira
- BiologyZootaxa
- 13 May 2019
A new genus and species of leaf-miner moth (Gracillariidae: Gracillariinae) is described and illustrated with the aid of optical and scanning electron microscopy, including adults, larva, pupa and the mine.
Evaluating DNA Barcoding for Species Identification and Discovery in European Gracillariid Moths
- C. Lopez‐Vaamonde, N. Kirichenko, R. Rougerie
- Biology, Environmental ScienceFrontiers in Ecology and Evolution
- 18 February 2021
The use of DNA barcodes as a tool for identification and species discovery in European gracillariids is explored and high congruence between morphology and barcodes is indicated with 91.3% of European species forming monophyletic clades that can be identified accurately using barcodes alone.
Exploring species diversity and host plant associations of leaf-mining micromoths (Lepidoptera: Gracillariidae) in the Russian Far East using DNA barcoding.
- N. Kirichenko, P. Triberti, C. Lopez‐Vaamonde
- BiologyZootaxa
- 7 August 2019
The Russian Far East is an important hotspot of biodiversity whose insect fauna remains understudied, particularly its Microlepidoptera, and the diversity of leaf-mining micromoths of the family Gracillariidae is explored using a combination of field observations and sampling, DNA barcoding, morphological analysis and literature review.
Systematics and biology of some species of Micrurapteryx Spuler (Lepidoptera, Gracillariidae) from the Holarctic Region, with re-description of M. caraganella (Hering) from Siberia
- N. Kirichenko, P. Triberti, M. Mutanen, E. Magnoux, J. Landry, C. Lopez‐Vaamonde
- BiologyZooKeys
- 11 April 2016
Members of this genetically divergent lineage of a gracillariid belonging to the genus Micrurapteryx were discovered in Siberia, whose larvae developed on Caragana Fabr.
Systematics, phylogeny and biology of a new genus of Lithocolletinae (Lepidoptera: Gracillariidae) associated with Cistaceae.
- J. De Prins, D. Davis, E. De Coninck, J. Sohn, P. Triberti
- BiologyZootaxa
- 27 October 2013
The molecular analysis of eleven nuclear genes failed to unambiguously place Triberta in the lithocolletine phylogeny, but revealed that this genus is distinct from either clade Phyllonorycter + Cremastobombycia and Cameraria, and is restored from synonymy based on morphological characters.
