It is demonstrated that this probiotic yeast secreted by S. boulardii secretes into the medium active compounds reducing candidal virulence factors, which is responsible for inhibition of C. albicans filamentation and partially also adhesion and biofilm formation.

Two MS fragmentation methods, ECD (electron-capture dissociation) and CID (collision-induced dissociation), were tested as tools for analysis of N-phosphorylation of three model peptides, finding the ECD method useful for the localization of phosphorylation sites in unstable lysine-ph phosphorylated peptides.

It is revealed that ursolic acid and oleanolic acid are present in Sambuci fructus and the triterpenoids detected and quantified using chromatographic methods such as TLC and HPLC allowed unequivocal structure determination.
