Various strategies for efficient and economical microbial 2,3-butanediol production, including strain improvement, substrate alternation, and process development, are reviewed and compared with regard to their pros and cons.
Development of a stepwise aeration control strategy for efficient docosahexaenoic acid production by Schizochytrium sp.
High cell density, high lipid content, and high DHA percentage were achieved by using a stepwise aeration control strategy, and DHA productivity reached 119 mg/L h, which was 11.21% over the best results obtained by constant aeration rate.
