High‐pressure granulites: formation, recovery of peak conditions and implications for tectonics
High-pressure granulites are characterised by the key associations garnet-clinopyroxene-plagioclase-quartz (in basic rocks) and kyanite-K-feldspar (metapelites and felsic rocks) and are typicallyExpand
Human DNA ligase I completely encircles and partially unwinds nicked DNA
TLDR
The crystal structure of human DNA ligase I in complex with a nicked, 5′ adenylated DNA intermediate shows that the enzyme redirects the path of the double helix to expose the nick termini for the strand-joining reaction and reveals a unique feature of mammalian ligases: a DNA-binding domain that allows ligases I to encircle its DNA substrate, stabilizes the DNA in a distorted structure, and positions the catalytic core on the nick. Zircon geochronology and metamorphic evolution of mafic dykes in the Hengshan Complex of northern China: Evidence for late Palaeoproterozoic extension and subsequent high-pressure metamorphism in the
Abstract Magmatic and metamorphic zircons have been dated from ductilely deformed gabbroic dykes defining a dyke swarm and signifying crustal extension in the northern part of the Hengshan Complex ofExpand
Coesite in Himalayan eclogite and implications for models of India-Asia collision
Coesite, recognized petrographically and confirmed by in situ Raman microprobe spectroscopy, is reported from an eclogite from the Kaghan valley, Pakistan, and represents the first record ofExpand
Thermobarometry of phengite‐bearing eclogites in the Dabie Mountains of central China
Pressure–temperature conditions for formation of the peak metamorphic mineral assemblages in phengite-bearing eclogites from Dabieshan have been assessed through a consideration of Fe2+–Mg2+Expand
Zircon ages for high pressure granulites from South Bohemia, Czech Republic, and their connection to Carboniferous high temperature processes
Abstract Petrological and isotopic investigations were undertaken on high pressure granulites of granitic to mafic composition from the Prachatice and Blanský les granulite complexes of southernExpand
Catalytic promiscuity and the evolution of new enzymatic activities.
TLDR
Alternative activities could have played an important role in the diversification of enzymes by providing a duplicated gene a head start towards being captured by adaptive evolution. Expand
High-pressure granulites in the Sanggan area, North China craton: metamorphic evolution, P-T paths and geotectonic significance
High-pressure basic granulites are widely distributed as enclaves and sheet-like blocks in the Huaian TTG gneiss terrane in the Sanggan area of the Central Zone of the North China craton. Four stagesExpand
Linking growth episodes of zircon and metamorphic textures to zircon chemistry: an example from the ultrahigh-temperature granulites of Rogaland (SW Norway)
Abstract In-situ U-Th-Pb analyses by ion-microprobe on zircon in intact textural relationships are combined with backscatter and cathodoluminescence imaging and trace element analyses to provideExpand
Transient Hoogsteen Base Pairs in Canonical Duplex DNA
TLDR
The methods presented here provide a new route for characterizing transient low-populated nucleic acid structures, which are predicted to be abundant in the genome and constitute a second transient layer of the genetic code. Expand
