EFSA Panel on Food Additives and Nutrient Sources added to Food (ANS),
The present opinion deals with the re-evaluation of konjac (E 425), comprising konjac gum (E 425 i) and konjac glucomannan (E 425 ii) when used as food additives. Following the conceptual framework…
Ochratoxin a causes DNA damage and cytogenetic effects but no DNA adducts in rats.

The best model, which included exposure to genotoxic factors, host factors, methods, and scoring criteria, explained 75% of the total variance, with the largest contribution attributable to laboratory methods.
Werner's syndrome protein is required for correct recovery after replication arrest and DNA damage induced in S-phase of cell cycle.
- P. Pichierri, A. Franchitto, P. Mosesso, F. Palitti
- BiologyMolecular Biology of the Cell
- 1 August 2001
The hypothesis that WRN could be involved in the correct resolution of recombinational intermediates that arise from replication arrest due to either DNA damage or replication fork collapse is supported.

Scientific opinion on the safety of green tea catechins
There is evidence from interventional clinical trials that intake of doses equal or above 800 mg EGCG/day taken as a food supplement has been shown to induce a statistically significant increase of serum transaminases in treated subjects compared to control.
Safety of hydroxyanthracene derivatives for use in food
Considering the possible presence of aloe‐emodin and emodin in extracts, the ANS Panel concluded that hydroxyanthracene derivatives should be considered as genotoxic and carcinogenic unless there are specific data to the contrary, such as for rhein.
Re‐evaluation of silicon dioxide (E 551) as a food additive
- M. Younes, P. Aggett, C. Lambré
- Environmental ScienceEFSA journal. European Food Safety Authority
- 1 January 2018
The EFSA Panel on Food Additives and Nutrient Sources added to Food (ANS) provides a scientific opinion re‐evaluating the safety of silicon dioxide (E 551) when used as a food additive, concluding that the EU specifications are insufficient to adequately characterise the food additive E 551.
The novel human gene aprataxin is directly involved in DNA single-strand-break repair
- P. Mosesso, M. Piane, F. Palitti, G. Pepe, S. Penna, L. Chessa
- BiologyCellular and Molecular Life Sciences (CMLS)
- 1 February 2005
Findings clearly indicate the direct involvement of aprataxin in the DNA single-strand-break repair machinery.
