Cytokine serum level during severe sepsis in human IL-6 as a marker of severity.
TLDR
IL-6 appears to be a good marker of severity during bacterial infection and correlated well with APACHE II score, and the mortality rate increased significantly in the group of patients who presented with IL-6 serum level above 1000 pg/mL.
IN VIVO CELL ACTIVATION FOLLOWING OKT3 ADMINISTRATION: SYSTEMIC CYTOKINE RELEASE AND MODULATION BY CORTICOSTEROIDS
A massive and self-limited release of tumor necrosis factor and interferon gamma was detected in the systemic circulation in 35 consecutive renal allograft recipients by specific radioimmunoassays
Tumor necrosis factor and interleukin-1 serum levels during severe sepsis in humans.
TLDR
There was a correlation between TNF alpha level and sepsis severity score as well as with mortality, and IL-1 beta serum levels were only slightly increased and were not correlated with severity or mortality.
Metabolic and respiratory changes after cholecystectomy performed via laparotomy or laparoscopy.
TLDR
The metabolic and acute phase responses (glucose, leucocytosis, C-reactive protein) were less after laparoscopy compared with laparotomy, and after surgery interleukin-6 concentrations were less in the laparoscopic group.
Stimulation of proteoglycan production by glucosamine sulfate in chondrocytes isolated from human osteoarthritic articular cartilage in vitro.
TLDR
Glucosamine sulfate did not affect DNA synthesis nor coll II production but caused a statistically significant stimulation of PG production by chondrocytes from human osteoarthritic cartilage cultured for up to 12 days in 3-dimensional cultures.
Bone mineral content and physical activity.
TLDR
The positive correlation between exercise and bone mineralization is clearly demonstrated and the precise mechanical constraints optimizing the favorable effect in the most efficient way should be studied.
Immunohistochemical demonstration of placental alkaline phosphatase in various states of testicular development and in germ cell tumours.
TLDR
It is suggested that PlAP is a marker of primitive germ cells and that it reappears in germ cell neoplasms by gene derepression.
Sepsis and serum cytokine concentrations.
TLDR
According to the profiles of the cytokines, septic shock patients do not represent a homogeneous population and may have different profiles in the time course of their cytokine concentrations.
