A Simple Measure of Niche Breadth
TLDR
Niche breadths in animal and plant populations are often measured without regard to the relative frequencies of the various resources available to the organisms, and it is suggested that niche breadth be defined as the degree of similarity between the frequency distribution of resources used by members of a population and the frequency Distribution of Resources available to them.
Forest Fragmentation, Pollination, and Plant Reproduction in a Chaco Dry Forest, Argentina
TLDR
Overall, levels of pollination and seed production undoubtedly integrated many idio- syncratic effects of fragmentation on particular plant and animal populations, and indicated that "community health" of fragments suffered in comparison with that of continuous forest.
Community Organization Among Neotropical Nectar-Feeding Birds
TLDR
This work distinguishes five types of fiowers relative to hummingbird foraging, and defines six community roles for hummingbirds in exploitation of various flower types, and points out the many parallels that exist with other consumer groups.

Organization of a Tropical Guild of Nectarivorous Birds
Fourteen months' observations on hummingbird foraging patterns in successional habitats at Monteverde, Costa Rica, showed that one territorial species (Amazilia saucerottei) dominated rich resource
ECOLOGICAL INTERACTIONS BETWEEN PLANTS AND HUMMINGBIRDS IN A SUCCESSIONAL TROPICAL COMMUNITY
TLDR
The unspecialized, op- portunistic nature of both plants and birds assured abundant hummingbirds and resulted in a well- integrated complex of plants and pollinators despite the transient nature of the successional habitats.
Elevation and the Morphology, Flight Energetics, and Foraging Ecology of Tropical Hummingbirds
TLDR
A precise interrelationship between hummingbird behavior, morphology, energetics, and competition is implied and is confirmed by a clearcut corollary.
On the Relationship between Wing Disc Loading and Foraging Strategy in Hummingbirds
TLDR
It is predicted that the territorial species or sexes of hummingbirds within any given community will be found to have higher wing disc loading than the nonterritorial birds.
Do Tropical Bird‐Pollinated Plants Exhibit Density‐Dependent Interactions? Field Experiments
TLDR
In a tropical cloud forest at Monteverde, Costa Rica, three understory shrub species overlap greatly in flowering seasons and share hummingbird pollinators, apparently the intensity of density dependence, at least in terms of female reproductive success, varies among plant species sharing pollinators.
On the calculation of sugar concentration in flower nectar
TLDR
The different methods of expressing sugar concentration are here clarified, and the correct methods of converting from one to the other are provided.
