A multidisciplinary panel of 18 physicians and 3 non-physicians from eight countries reviewed the literature on diagnosis and management of adult coeliac disease and the recommendations are presented.

It is found that inflammation proximal to the pouch in the neo‐terminal ileum, so called pre‐pouch ileitis (PI), has also been observed, and as pouchitis is increasingly common and PI can mimic it, this condition is characterized.
