This paper presents solutions developed in the ACTS ASPeCT project for advanced security features in UMTS. In particular, a secure billing scheme for value-added information services using micropayments is presented. The solutions will be validated in a trial to be conducted over an experimental UMTS platform.
Genomic instability or microsatellite instability (MI) in simple repeated sequences was initially recognised in colonic carcinomas and subsequently in other tumours. MI has been associated with mutations in genes concerned with replication and DNA repair. We investigated 34 microsatellite markers in squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (SCCHN).(More)
Allelic imbalance or loss of heterozygosity (LOH) studies have been used extensively to identify regions on chromosomes that may contain putative tumour-suppressor genes. We have undertaken an extensive allelotype of 80 specimens of squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (SCCHN) using 145 polymorphic microsatellite markers on 39 chromosome arms.(More)
An initial study of genetic diversity of Plasmodium falciparum in Asembo, western Kenya showed that the parasite maintained overall genetic stability 5 years after insecticide-treated bed net (ITN) introduction in 1997. This study investigates further the genetic diversity of P. falciparum 10 years after initial ITN introduction in the same study area and(More)
