In this study, fish sperm cryopreservation methods were elaborated upon for ex situ conservation of nine strains of Bohemian common carp and showed significant differences between fresh and frozen/thawed sperm regarding fertilization rate and insignificant differences on the hatching rate.

In freshwater O. mossambicus spermatozoa, solutions of NaCl devoid of CaCl2 were unable to initiate motility, but the addition of 1·5 to 30 mMCaCl2 to the NaCl solution had a full motility initiating effect and held in both fresh and sea water.
