The proteomics approach was adopted to study the simultaneous expression of serum proteins in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma and it was demonstrated that the serum high abundance 2-DE protein profiles of NPC patients were generally similar to that of the controls, with exception of the ceruloplasmin (CPL) spots, which showed higher expression.

The aberrant expression of the serum acute‐phase proteins of patients with BC and FDB was confirmed by competitive enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and similar altered proteins expression was also observed from immunohistochemical studies of malignant and benign breast lesions of the respective patients performed using antisera to the aberrantly expressed proteins.

The lectin‐based electrophoretic bioanalytical method adopted in the present study may be used to assess the physiological relevance of ITIH4 fragmentation and its correlation with different malignancies, their stages and progression.

A rapid extraction protocol for hair shaft protein using alkaline-based buffer is developed, reducing the extraction time from at least a day to less than two hours and showed a protein recovery of 47.3 ± 3.72%.
