Fish diversity of the River Choto Jamuna, Bangladesh : present status and conservation needs.
The existing fish species and their composition along with diversity, richness and evenness indices are revealed, and the establishment of fish sanctuaries to conserve available fish species, both threatened and non-threatened, naturally is recommended.
Environment and fish fauna of the Atrai River: global and local conservation perspective
It is concluded that Atrai River could be an excellent place for natural conservation of fish species and efforts to maintain a sustainable fishing pressure, removal of existing alien species and avoiding further introduction of such species are recommended.
Fishes of the river Padma, Bangladesh: Current trend and conservation status
The Padma River is one of the longest rivers and it is believed to be an important spawning and feeding ground for riverine fish species of Bangladesh. This study was conducted from February 2013 to
Seasonal variation and community structure of fishes in the Mahananda River with special reference to conservation issues
Three distinct fish groups of fish families were revealed from the cluster analysis of similarity and to improve the situation, control of illegal fishing gears, establishment of sanctuaries and legal protection for threatened species are recommended.
Risking lives for living: a study on underwater fishing in the Padma River, Bangladesh
Different types of fishing methods and gears are being employed across the globe including Bangladesh. This study describes the underwater fishing method in the Padma River- one of the three largest
Lengths, length-length relationships and condition factor of Indian catfish Gagata cenia (Hamilton, 1822) from the Padma River, Bangladesh
This study described some biological parameters including lengths, length-length relationships and Fulton’s condition factors of Gagata cenia in the Padma River of Bangladesh, based on 1120 specimens
Do temperature and water depth influence microcrustacean hatching responses from floodplain wetland sediments?
Microcrustacea in ephemeral wetlands produce dormant eggs to escape prolonged dry conditions. These eggs can hatch on inundation, although in most cases not all eggs hatch during a single wetting
Is current floodplain management a cause for concern for fish and bird conservation in Bangladesh's largest wetland?
Worldwide, water regulatory structures have impacts on aquatic ecological connectivity. This study determined the effects of current sluice management on the fish community in the Baral River, a
Municipal wastewater can result in a dramatic decline in freshwater fishes: a lesson from a developing country
Impacts of ineffective wastewater management on the biodiversity of receiving waters in developing countries are poorly documented. Using a before-after-control-impact methodology, we measured the
