We design and implement a GMPLS-based optical slot switching access-distribution network using PLZT switches. Switching speed is better than 10 nsec and the network has a large scalability, 1000 users, compared to PON.

We demonstrate optical fiber-delay-line buffers with 1times8 PLZT optical switches and a parallel pipeline buffer manager. Error-free buffering (bit-error-rate <10<sup>-9</sup>) has been achieved for 640 (64-wavelength times 10) Gbit/s wide-colored optical packets.
