Oogenesis in the Medaka Oryzias latipes : Stages of Oocyte Development : Developmental Biology
Etude des caracteristiques des follicules vivants et fixes, par microscopie optique et microscopie electronique en vue d'etablir une table standard des stades de developpement d'ovocytes d'O. latipesExpand
Steroid production by amago salmon (Oncorhynchus rhodurus) testes at different development stages.
Results indicate that a shift in steroidogenic capacity occurs in the amago salmon testis immediately prior to or during the spermiation period and suggest that mechanisms of gonadotropin action on 17 alpha,20 beta-diOHprog production in testes differ from those of ovaries. Expand
Isolation and characterization of goldfish cdk2, a cognate variant of the cell cycle regulator cdc2.
The nucleotide and predicted amino acid sequences of the goldfish cdk2, a cognate variant of the cell cycle regulator cdc2, show strong homology to the other knowncdk2 and complex formation of cdk1 with a protein other than cyclins A or B is indicated. Expand
Rainbow trout cytochrome P‐450c17 (17α‐hydroxylase/17,20‐lyase) cDNA cloning, enzymatic properties and temporal pattern of ovarian P‐450c17 mRNA expression during oogenesis
A cDNA clone encoding cytochrome P‐450c17 (17α‐hydroxylase/17,20‐lyase) was isolated from a rainbow trout ovarian follicle cDNA library and shows a much greater homology with chicken P‐ 450c17 than with that of human, bovine and rat. Expand
Rainbow trout ovarian cholesterol side‐chain cleavage cytochrome P450 (P450scc)
A cDNA clone encoding cholesterol side‐chain cleavage cytochrome P450 (P450scc) was isolated from a rainbow trout ovarian follicle cDNA library and the transcript was not found in early vitellogenic follicles, barely detected in postviteLLogenic follicle, and abundant in postovulatory follicles. Induction and inhibition of in vitro oocyte maturation and production of steroids in fish follicles by forskolin.
Data indicate that in Oryzias latipes, FK induces oocyte maturation by stimulating follicular production of maturation-inducing steroid (MIS), probably 17 alpha,20 beta-diOH prog, via an increase in cAMP, and that it may inhibit oocytematuration by increasing ooplasmic cAMP and some inhibitory interaction between the granulosa cells and the oocyte through intercellular communication. Influence of follicular development on steroid production in the medaka (Oryzias latipes) ovarian follicle in response to exogenous substrates.
The capacity of follicles to produce estradiol-17 beta in response to 17 alpha-OHprog or testosterone increased as follicles developed from the early to late vitellogenic stage, but declined during oocyte maturation, demonstrating a distinct shift in the activities of steroidogenic enzymes. Expand
Steroidogenesis in the Ovarian Follicle of Medaka (Oryzias latipes, a daily spawner) during Oocyte Maturation
The timely synthesis of 17α,20β‐DP in medaka at the onset of oocyte maturation, together with the demonstration that this progestogen is the most potent inducer of oocytes maturation in vitro, provides further evidence that 17 α,20 β‐DP is the naturally occurring maturation‐inducing hormone in the medaka. Isolation and expression of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) ovarian cDNA encoding 3β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase/Δ5−4-isomerase
A distinct shift in steroidogenesis from testosterone to 17α-hydroxyprogesterone occurs in the salmonid ovarian thecal cell layers immediately prior to oocyte maturation, and is a prerequisite for the production of 17α,20β-dihydroxy-4-pregnen-3-one. Expand
