THE 2014 ALMA LONG BASELINE CAMPAIGN: FIRST RESULTS FROM HIGH ANGULAR RESOLUTION OBSERVATIONS TOWARD THE HL TAU REGION
- C. Brogan, L. M. Peréz, K. Tatematsu
- Physics, Geology
- 14 July 2015
We present Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) observations from the 2014 Long Baseline Campaign in dust continuum and spectral line emission from the HL Tau region. The continuum…
DISCOVERY OF THE METHOXY RADICAL, CH3O, TOWARD B1: DUST GRAIN AND GAS-PHASE CHEMISTRY IN COLD DARK CLOUDS
- J. Cernicharo, N. Marcelino, È. Roueff, M. Gerin, A. Jiménez-Escobar, G. M. Muñoz Caro
- Physics
- 10 November 2012
We report on the discovery of the methoxy radical (CH3O) toward the cold and dense core B1-b based on the observation, with the IRAM 30 m radio telescope, of several lines at 3 and 2 mm wavelengths.…
VELOCITY-RESOLVED [C ii] EMISSION AND [C ii]/FIR MAPPING ALONG ORION WITH HERSCHEL
- J. Goicoechea, D. Teyssier, J. Stutzki
- PhysicsAstrophysical Journal
- 16 August 2015
It is concluded that the [C ii] emitting column relative to the total dust column along each line of sight is responsible for the observed L[C ii?]/LFIR variations through the cloud.
Compression and ablation of the photo-irradiated molecular cloud the Orion Bar
- J. Goicoechea, J. Pety, P. Pilleri
- PhysicsNature
- 1 July 2016
One-arcsecond-resolution millimetre-wave images of the Orion Bar suggest that the cloud edge has been compressed by a high-pressure wave that is moving into the molecular cloud, demonstrating that dynamical and non-equilibrium effects are important for the cloud evolution.
THE 2014 ALMA LONG BASELINE CAMPAIGN: OBSERVATIONS OF THE STRONGLY LENSED SUBMILLIMETER GALAXY HATLAS J090311.6+003906 AT z = 3.042
- A. Partnership, C. Vlahakis, Bonn
- Physics
- 9 March 2015
We present initial results of very high resolution Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) observations of the z = 3.042 gravitationally lensed submillimeter galaxy HATLAS…
Detection of 15NH2D in dense cores : a new tool for measuring the 14N/15N ratio in the cold ISM
- M. Gerin, N. Marcelino, D. Bockel'ee-Morvan
- Physics
- 18 March 2009
Context. Ammonia is one of the most reliable tracers of cold dense cores. It is also a minor constituent of interstellar ices and, as such, one of the important nitrogen reservoirs in the protosolar…
THE 2014 ALMA LONG BASELINE CAMPAIGN: AN OVERVIEW
- A. Partnership, E. Fomalont, S. Wood
- Physics, Environmental Science
- 14 July 2015
A major goal of the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) is to make accurate images with resolutions of tens of milliarcseconds, which at submillimeter (submm) wavelengths requires…
The puzzling behavior of HNCO isomers in molecular clouds
- N. Marcelino, S. Brünken, P. Thaddeus
- Physics
- 1 June 2010
Context. Isocyanic acid (HNCO) has been observed in different physical environments in the interstellar medium (ISM) and in external galaxies. HNCO has several metastable isomers with a ground…
Molecular shells in IRC+10216: tracing the mass loss history,.
- J. Cernicharo, N. Marcelino, M. Agúndez, M. Guélin
- PhysicsAstronomy & Astrophysics
- 5 December 2014
Maps of the extended 12CO and 13CO emissions in IRC+10216, the envelope of CW Leo, the high mass loss star the closest to the Sun, show that the mass loss process is highly variable on timescales of hundreds of years.
Discovery of Interstellar Propylene (CH2CHCH3): Missing Links in Interstellar Gas-Phase Chemistry
- N. Marcelino, J. Cernicharo, C. Thum
- Physics
- 9 July 2007
We report the discovery of propylene (also called propene, CH2CHCH 3) with the IRAM 30 m radio telescope toward the dark cloud TMC-1. Propylene is the most saturated hydrocarbon ever detected in…
