Taxonomic study of Favolus and Neofavolus gen. nov. segregated from Polyporus (Basidiomycota, Polyporales)
Phylogenetic analyses of nurLSU and ITS regions revealed that the infrageneric ‘group Favolus’ is divided into two main clades, which include members of the Polyporus grammocephalus complex, the P. tenuiculus complex, and P. alveolaris.

A phylogenetic study conducted based on nrITS and nrLSU in single and multilocus analyses including members of the Omphalotaceae supports the view of a more restricted Gymnopus and a distinct Marasmiellus based on monophyletic and strongly supported clades on which their morphological circumscriptions and taxonomic treatments are proposed herein.

Two new cuparene-type sesquiterpenes, enokipodins C and D, were isolated from culture medium of an edible mushroom and showed antimicrobial activity against a fungus, Cladosporium herbarum, and Gram-positive bacteria, Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus.

These results indicate, as optimal conditions of in vitro mycelial growth for L. strigosus, the use of 35°C for incubation, initial pH from 5 to 7, without illumination, Sabouraud dextrose agar medium, and agitation for culture in liquid medium.
