Relationship of Facet Tropism with Degeneration and Stability of Functional Spinal Unit
- M. Kong, Wubing He, Jeffrey C. Wang
- MedicineYonsei medical journal
- 20 October 2009
FT was shown to be associated significantly with the presence of high grades of FJD at L4-L5, which suggests that at active sites of segmental motion, FT may predispose to the development of facet joint degeneration.
Effects of 6-hydroxydopamine exposure on motor activity and biochemical expression in zebrafish (Danio rerio) larvae.
- Chien-Wei Feng, Z. Wen, Wu-Fu Chen
- Biology, PsychologyZebrafish
- 11 June 2014
Vitamin E, Sinemet, and minocycline significantly reversed 6-OHDA-induced changes of parkin, pink1, and cd-11b mRNA expression in zebrafish, providing some support for the validity of this in vivo Parkinson's model.
Symptomatic ectopic bone formation after off-label use of recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 in transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion.
- N. Chen, Z. Smith, E. Stiner, S. Armin, Hormoz Sheikh, L. Khoo
- MedicineJournal of Neurosurgery : Spine
- 2010
A retrospective review of 4 patients who underwent minimally invasive spinal TLIF in which bone fusion was augmented with rhBMP-2 applied to an absorbable collagen sponge identified four cases with delayed symptomatic neural compression following the off-label use of rhB MP-2 with MIS-TLIF.
Piscidin-1 Induces Apoptosis via Mitochondrial Reactive Oxygen Species-Regulated Mitochondrial Dysfunction in Human Osteosarcoma Cells
- Meng-Hsuan Cheng, Chieh‐Yu Pan, Hsiao-Mei Kuo
- BiologyScientific Reports
- 19 March 2020
It is indicated that piscidin-1 has more cytotoxic effects against OSA cells than against lung and ovarian cancer cells; however, it has no effect on non-cancer cells.
Therapeutic Effect of Platelet-Rich Plasma in Rat Spinal Cord Injuries
- N. Chen, C. Sung, Wu-Fu Chen
- BiologyFrontiers in Neuroscience
- 23 April 2018
The findings suggest that i.t. PRP stimulate angiogenesis, enhancing neuronal regeneration after SCI in rats, and a sustained treatment exerted more favorable therapeutic effects than a single dose of PRP.
Neuroprotective Effects of Direct Intrathecal Administration of Granulocyte Colony‐Stimulating Factor in Rats with Spinal Cord Injury
- Wu-Fu Chen, Chun-Hong Chen, N. Chen, C. Sung, Z. Wen
- Biology, MedicineCNS Neuroscience & Therapeutics
- 1 September 2015
The present study aimed to examine the neuroprotective efficacy of i.t. G‐CSF or MP in rats with SCI and found that intrathecal administration of granulocyte colony‐stimulating factor improves outcome after experimental spinal cord ischemic insults in rats.
Therapeutic Effect of Modulating TREM-1 via Anti-inflammation and Autophagy in Parkinson’s Disease
- Chien-Wei Feng, N. Chen, Wu-Fu Chen
- BiologyFrontiers in Neuroscience
- 2 August 2019
LP17, a synthetic peptide blocker of TREM-1, significantly inhibited the lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced upregulation of proinflammatory cascades of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), cyclooxygenase-2, and nuclear factor-kappa B and enhanced the autophagy-related proteins such as light chain-3 and histone deacetylase-6.
Anatomical Considerations for Subaxial (C2) Pedicle Screw Placement: A Radiographic Study With Computed Tomography in 93 Patients
- Z. Smith, S. Bistazzoni, A. Onibokun, N. Chen, M. Sassi, L. Khoo
- MedicineJournal of Spinal Disorders & Techniques
- 1 May 2010
Evaluating the linear and angular dimensions of the true C2 pedicle using axial computed tomography found a significant percentage of patients have pedicle widths that may not accommodate screw fixation, and preoperative planning is absolutely mandatory.
Flexibilide Obtained from Cultured Soft Coral Has Anti-Neuroinflammatory and Analgesic Effects through the Upregulation of Spinal Transforming Growth Factor-β1 in Neuropathic Rats
- N. Chen, Shi-Ying Huang, Z. Wen
- BiologyMarine Drugs
- 27 June 2014
The results suggest that flexibilide may serve as a therapeutic agent for neuropathic pain and that spinal TGF-β1 may be involved in the anti-neuroinflammatory and analgesic effects of flexibILide.
Polydopamine Ultrathin Film Growth on Mica via In-Situ Polymerization of Dopamine with Applications for Silver-Based Antimicrobial Coatings
- Zhenghao Huang, Shih-Wei Peng, S. Hsieh
- Materials ScienceMaterials
- 1 February 2021
An outstanding feature of PDA ultrathin films is their ability to act as a molecular adhesive, providing a foundation for constructing functional surfaces, and antimicrobial applications were explored by incorporating Ag nanoparticles into a PDA film.
