On the basis of the artificial freezing method, the potential of low-temperature resistance of more than 30 domestic- and foreign-bred scab-immune apple varieties is revealed and the most resistant genotypes for production are recommended.
October 2015 marks the 160th anniversary of the birth of Ivan V. Michurin, naturalist and plant breeder, who significantly contributed to the progress made in fruit and berry crops and ornamental plants, as well as the elaboration and improvement of breeding methods. He created new cultivars; considerably extended gardening northward and eastward;… (More)
The characteristics of callogenesis and regeneration during in vitro culturing of anthers of fruit and berry plants are revealed. The optimal culturing conditions are determined and the combinations of phytohormones in nutrient media providing a high percentage yield of calli and production of regenerant plants are found.
Features of the analyzed allele distribution in domestic and foreign varieties are revealed on the basis of apple variety and shape polymorphism in alleles of genes associated with shelf life (Md-ACS1 and Md-ACO1) and fruit quality (MD-Exp7). Two allelic states have been revealed for the Md-ACS1 gene. With regard to the foreign selection Fuji and Gala… (More)
Molecular genetic analysis revealed a polymorphism for the Md-Exp7 gene that controls the biosynthesis of expansin in wild species of the genus Malus. Eight allelic forms of the gene were identified, four of which were unique. The regularities in the allele distribution in 37 genotypes were found to be in accordance with their systematic positions. The… (More)
This paper presents the results of identification of columnar habit in apple trees using molecular markers 29f3 and 29f1. In the genome of varieties Strela, Teleimon, Kaskad, Geizer, Zelenyi Shum, Priok-skoe, and Gotika, an insertion determining the columnar crown habit in apple trees was identified in the near-gene region of the Co locus. This insertion is… (More)
The results of molecular genetic analysis of wild species and varieties of genus Malus Mill. for loci of monogenic scab resistance are presented. Dominant allele of gene Rvi6 was identified in varieties of M. robusta 43199, M. hupehensis, and M. floribunda. Locus Rvi4 was detected in genotypes of M. robusta v. persicifolia, M. asiatica 2343, M. sieversii… (More)
