The pharmacokinetics of cefroxadine was studied in 17 patients with terminal renal impairment, 10 of whom were undergoing 5 h dialysis sessions. The antibiotic was administered as a single oral dose of 500 mg. Cefroxadine followed a single compartment open kinetic model. During the interdialysis period in patients with terminal renal impairment, an average(More)
AIM To study patient outcomes after surgical correction for iatrogenic patellar instability. METHODS This retrospective study looked at 17 patients (19 knees) suffering from disabling medial patellar instability following lateral release surgery. All patients underwent lateral patellofemoral ligament (LPFL) reconstruction by a single surgeon. Assessments(More)
CAVHD and related techniques rely on vascular access to a large artery and a large vein with wide-bore catheters. The femoral vessels or a Scribner shunt are used most often. Bleeding, large retroperitoneal hematoma, arterio-venous fistula formation and infection are possible complications. We report our experience in 62 patients treated with CAVHD. Type of(More)
The possible presence of metabolites was investigated in the urine of 14 patients treated with N-(4-picolyl) 3,5 dimethylbenzamide (picobenzide) after an i.v. dose of 10 mg/Kg. The metabolites formed were isolated by liquid-liquid extraction processes and chromatographic techniques. The main metabolite of this neuroleptic agent is the N-oxide derivative,(More)
A substitutive anticoagulant therapy is requested when HIT is associated with thombosis. LMWH have been proposed in this setting, but were occasionally suspected to sustain platelet consumption. An association with aspirin, which can prevent in vitro heparin-induced platelet aggregation, has been evaluated in a prospective clinical trial. Fourteen(More)
The values of the thermodynamic ionization constants of the carboxylic (pK = 3.30 +/- 0.02) and amine (pK = 7.00 +/- 0.06) groups of cefroxadine were determined at 35.0 degrees C using potentiometric data. The apparent ionization constants of these groups were also determined at 35.0 degrees C, and at different values of ionic strength.
The pharmacokinetics off cefoxitin were studied after a single i.v. and i. m. dose of 15 mg/kg of cefoxitin to 15 younger people (15-55 years) and to 16 geriatric patients (66-94 years). The kinetics of the antibiotic follow an open two-compartment model for both administration routes. After i.m. administration of the antibiotic, there are modifications in(More)
BACKGROUND Patients with femoral trochlear dysplasia are at risk for chronic recurrent patellofemoral dislocations, with extreme cases often requiring a surgical procedure. Anteromedialization of the tibial tubercle with intraoperative femoral nerve stimulation and concurrent medial patella-femoral ligament (MPFL) reconstruction is a previously reported(More)
The pharmacokinetics of Amikacin are studied after the administration of 7.5 mg/kg body weight to 10 ascitic patients diagnosed with various hepatic disorders. The antibiotic was determined microbiologically in plasma and in the ascitic fluid. The antibiotic follows a two-compartment kinetic model, and it may be seen that once the rapid disposition phase(More)
