In a recent important paper, Hoffstein and Hulse generalized the notion of Rankin-Selberg convolution L-functions by defining shifted convolution L-functions. We investigate symmetrized versions of their functions, and we prove that the generating functions of certain special values are linear combinations of weakly holomorphic quasimodular forms and… (More)
Using an extension of Wright’s version of the circle method, we obtain asymptotic formulae for partition ranks similar to formulae for partition cranks which where conjectured by F. Dyson and recently proved by the first author and K. Bringmann.
Following an idea of B. H. Gross, who presented an elliptic curve test for Mersenne primes Mp = 2 p − 1, we propose a similar test with elliptic curves for generalized Thabit primes K(h, n) := h · 2 − 1 for any positive odd number h and any integer n > log2(h) + 2.
We use the Circle Method to derive asymptotics for functions related to the number of parts of partitions in particular residue classes.
Ho stein and Hulse recently introduced the notion of shifted convolution Dirichlet series for pairs of modular forms f1 and f2. The second two authors investigated certain special values of symmetrized sums of such functions, numbers which are generally expected to be mysterious transcendental numbers. They proved that the generating functions of these… (More)
Improving upon previous work on the subject, we use Wright’s Circle Method to derive an asymptotic formula for the number of parts in all partitions of an integer n that are in any given arithmetic progression.
Finite simple groups are the building blocks of finite symmetry. The effort to classify them precipitated the discovery of new examples, including the monster, and six pariah groups which do not belong to any of the natural families, and are not involved in the monster. It also precipitated monstrous moonshine, which is an appearance of monster symmetry in… (More)
BACKGROUND Anaphylaxis after ingestion of spices as a result from occupational sensitization remains anecdotal. We describe a patient, working in a spice factory, with anaphylaxis from coriander in a meal. He also demonstrated urticaria, angio-edema, rhinoconjunctivitis and bronchospasm during handling coriander and fenugreek. OBJECTIVE To determine the… (More)
