Mutations in the gene autoimmune regulator (AIRE) cause autoimmune polyendocrinopathy candidiasis ectodermal dystrophy. AIRE is expressed in thymic medullary epithelial cells, where it promotes the expression of tissue-restricted antigens. By the combined use of biochemical and biophysical methods, we show that AIRE selectively interacts with histone H3… (More)
The autoimmune regulator (AIRE) protein is a key mediator of the central tolerance for tissue specific antigens and is involved in transcriptional control of many antigens in thymic medullary epithelial cells (mTEC). Mutations in the AIRE gene cause a rare disease named autoimmune polyendocrinopathy-candidiasis-ectodermal dystrophy (APECED). Here we report… (More)
The dynamin GTPase is required for clathrin-dependent, receptor-mediated endocytosis. Exciting new studies have shown that dynamin's pleckstrin homology domain binds to phosphatidylinositol 4, 5-bisphosphate in vivo, thus localising dynamin directly at the plasma membrane and ultimately enabling vesiculation.
OBJECTIVES Characterize patients with diabetes with severe hypoglycemia requiring emergency services intervention at home and investigate 12-month mortality. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS Emergency services call-outs for hypoglycemia were recorded between 2005 and 2013 in an area covering 34 000 patients with diabetes. Patient characteristics were… (More)
