In this paper we examine a number of different definitions of strategic stability and the relations among them. In particular, we show that the stability requirement given by Hillas (1990) is weaker than the requirements involved in the various definitions of stability in Mertens’ reformulation of stability (Mertens 1989, 1991). To this end, we introduce a… (More)
In this paper it is shown how to compute stable sets, defined by Mertens (1989), in the context of bimatrix games only using linear optimization techniques.
Kohlberg and Mertens (1986) argued that a solution concept to a game should be invariant under the addition or deletion of an equivalent strategy and not require the use of weakly dominated strategies. In this paper we study which of these requirements are satisfied by Kalai and Samet’s (1984) concepts of persistent equilibria and persistent retracts. While… (More)
