The development of an NMR interface microchip and its applications to the real-time monitoring of chemical reactions are described. The microchip device was named "MICCS" (MIcro Channeled Cell for Synthesis monitoring), and the method using it was named "MICCS-NMR". MICCS was inserted into a 5 mm Phi NMR sample tube. Thus standard solution NMR probes(More)
Direct observation of the unstable intermediate in the radical addition reaction of the oxime ether 1 mediated by triethylborane (Et(3)B) is described using (1)H and (11)B micro channeled cell for synthesis monitoring (MICCS), which was recently developed as an interfacing microchip for NMR. It was possible that the signal of the intermediate was observed(More)
Self-aggregation of 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide ([bmim]Br) in D(2)O has been investigated using NMR spectroscopy. The (1)H spin-lattice relaxation times (T(1)) of the [bmim](+) increased with the decrease of concentration in the range of 0.1-3.0 mol dm(-3) as expected, however, in contrast, the (1)H-T(1) decreased below 0.1 mol dm(-3). The estimated(More)
Several new amyloid-β (Aβ) aggregation inhibitors were synthesized according to our theory that a hydrophilic moiety could be attached to the Aβ-recognition unit for the purpose of preventing amyloid plaque formation. A distyrylbenzene-derivative, DSB(EEX)(3), which consider the Aβ recognition unit (DSB, 1,4-distyrylbenzene) and expected to bind to amyloid(More)
The interaction of mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) with ferrous ions (Fe(2+)) in the solid state, in water, and in polar organic solvents was investigated using (1)H-NMR, (13)C-NMR, IR, and UV-visible (Vis) spectroscopies. A red-purple colored substance was formed after grinding solid MMF and FeSO4·7H2O in a mortar. The IR spectrum of taken as a KBr tablet of(More)
The structures of the components in the triethylborane-mediated radical addition reaction of oxime ether were investigated by 1H- and 3D-DOSY NMR methods. It has been impossible to physically separate the unstable intermediates; therefore, the structures were thus far unidentified. It has been possible to elucidate the structures of these unstable(More)
The reaction mechanism for the biomimetic synthesis of tryptophan from indole and serine in the presence of Ac(2)O in AcOH was investigated. Although the time-course (1)H-NMR spectra of the reaction of 5-methoxyindole with N-acetylserine were measured in the presence of (CD(3)CO)(2)O in CD(3)CO(2)D, the reactive intermediate could not be detected. This(More)
We have performed the heat capacity, neutron diffraction, and neutron quasielastic scattering measurements of an ionic liquid 1-octyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride (C8mimCl). The heat capacity data revealed that C8mimCl exhibits a glass transition with a large heat capacity jump at T(g) = 214 K, which is lower than T(g) of C4mimCl with a shorter alkyl-chain.(More)
