Our dual-mode optical power detector combines the principles of electrical substitution with measuring photocurrent. We present a new detector design, which shows a considerable reduction in non-equivalence between optical and electrical heating during electrical substitution.
We demonstrate the use of a dual-mode detector for determining the internal quantum deficiency of a silicon photodiode without the use of an external reference.
