During microRNA (miRNA) biogenesis, the Microprocessor complex (MC), composed minimally of Drosha, an RNaseIII enzyme, and DGCR8, a double-stranded RNA-binding protein, cleaves the primary-miRNA (pri-miRNA) to release the pre-miRNA stem-loop structure. Size-exclusion chromatography of the MC, isolated from mammalian cells, suggested multiple copies of one… (More)
A series of nitrothiophene compounds, with activity against Schistosoma mansoni in mice, is described and shown to be more effective than the corresponding nitrofurans.
Wide-eld detection with EMCCD camera enables parallel measurements. The temporal resolution is >ms, and the working concentration is limited to nM or less. Confocal detection from an effective volume of ~10-15 l with an avalanche photodiode or photomultiplier tube. The temporal resolution is <ms, and the working concentration is limited to ~nM or less.… (More)
