OBJECTIVE To compare the frequency of chromosomal abnormalities in products of conception from women with and without a history of recurrent spontaneous abortion. DESIGN Retrospective analysis of prospectively collected material. SETTING Private practice at the Genetics and IVF Institute, Fairfax, Virginia and Grupo de Reproducción AGY Asociados, México(More)
OBJECTIVE To use microarray technology to analyze endometrial gene expression after gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist (GnRH-a) triggering with four different protocols of luteal support in comparison with results obtained after a human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) trigger. DESIGN Prospective, randomized, controlled trial. SETTING(More)
This study evaluated the differentially modulated expression of vascular mediators in oocyte donors after hCG vs. GnRHa triggering, trying to understand ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome pathophysiology. Donors who received GnRH agonist triggering showed a statistically significant decrease in vascular endothelial growth factor in follicular fluid and in(More)
In a prospective cohort study, we compared the effect of hCG and GnRH agonist triggering of final oocyte maturation on vascular endothelial growth factor production. Vascular endothelial growth factor follicular fluid concentration was significantly lower in response to GnRH agonist versus hCG, which may partially explain the absence of OHSS in these of(More)
This study evaluated the efficacy of a gonadotrophin-releasing hormone antagonist (GnRHa) to prevent premature luteinization (PL) and examined its impact on intrauterine insemination (IUI) cycle outcome. A total of 662 patients who were undergoing IUI were evaluated. Ovarian stimulation was started on day 3 with recombinant (r)FSH, followed by the GnRHa and(More)
It remains unclear how GnRH agonist (GnRHa) triggering affects the luteal phase, so we investigated the luteal phase after GnRHa triggering, supported with conventional E(2)/P with or without low-dose hCG. E(2)/P support, compared with low-dose hCG, induced a shorter luteal phase (11.2 ± 1.1 vs. 15.0 ± 1.6 days) and fewer subjective complaints (0 vs. 42%),(More)
BACKGROUND Adenomyosis is linked to infertility, but the mechanisms behind this relationship are not clearly established. Similarly, the impact of adenomyosis on ART outcome is not fully understood. Our main objective was to use ultrasound imaging to investigate adenomyosis prevalence and severity in a population of infertile women, as well as specifically(More)
We report a case of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in a 16-year-old male, whose peripheral white blood cells have a t(8;13)(q24;q14). There are no previous reports that describe this association. Although the tumor cells were not studied, we discuss the possible link between this finding and the development of the malignant lymphoma.
BACKGROUND It has been reported that a natural cycle (NC) is similar to or even better than hormone replacement therapy (HRT) in patients with regular cycles who undergo frozen embryo transfer (FET). Hundreds of FETs are managed yearly in our clinic. Scheduling these cycles is critical in a busy unit like ours. This is why we have to prove if a NC really(More)
The aim of this paper was to study the influence of four process variables (turning frequency, gas-phase oxygen level, type of bulking agent and sludge/bulking agent mixing ratio) on the performance of the sewage sludge composting process using a rotary drum pilot scale reactor, in order to optimize the thermophilic stage and reduce the processing time.(More)
