The evolution of cooperation among unrelated individuals is studied in a lattice-structured habitat, where individuals interact locally only with their neighbors. The initial population includes Tit-for-Tat (abbreviated as TFT, indicating a cooperative strategy) and All Defect (AD, a selfish strategy) distributed randomly over the lattice points. Each(More)
1. We have devised a radioimmunoassay for atrial natriueretic factor (ANF). Its application to rat brain extract led to the discovery of ANF in the brain. In addition to the hypothalamus and the pontine medullary region, it was widely distributed. 2. ANF in the brain is stored in a low molecular weight form, in contrast to pro-ANF in the atria. Thus, the(More)
The effect of intracerebroventricular (ICV) injection of atrial natriuretic factor (ANF) on drinking and pressor responses induced by centrally administered angiotensin II (AII) was examined in the rat. The ICV injection of ANF attenuated water intake induced by AII or 48-hr water deprivation. In contrast, ANF did not affect AII-induced pressor responses.(More)
