Nanoclusters are strongly ionised at 10<sup>16</sup> Wcm<sup>-2</sup> to generate even MeV ions. In a dense cluster ensemble a near 100% charge reduction of the ions to form fast neutrals is demonstrated. Neutrals atom emission is quasi-directional and neutralisation is more effective along the laser polarization.
