Proposed minimal standards for the use of genome data for the taxonomy of prokaryotes.
The minimal standards for the quality of genome sequences and how they can be applied for taxonomic purposes are described.
Nodulation of Lupinus albus by Strains of Ochrobactrum lupini sp. nov
A polyphasic study including phenotypic, chemotaxonomic, and molecular features of the strains isolated in this study showed that they belong to a new species of the genus Ochrobactrum, for which the name OchRobactrum lupini sp.
Reclassification of Agrobacterium ferrugineum LMG 128 as Hoeflea marina gen. nov., sp. nov.
The data from this polyphasic study indicate that this strain belongs to a new genus of the family 'Phyllobacteriaceae', and therefore it is proposed that strain LMG 128(T) should be reclassified as representing a novel species within the new genus Hoeflea gen. nov.
Micromonospora pisi sp. nov., isolated from root nodules of Pisum sativum.
A novel actinomycete isolated from the root nodules of a Pisum sativum plant was characterized taxonomically by using a polyphasic approach and considered to represent a novel species of the genus Micromonospora, for which the name Microm onospora pisi sp.
Ochrobactrum cytisi sp. nov., isolated from nodules of Cytisus scoparius in Spain.
Both strains ESC1(T) and ESC5 contained nodD and nifH genes on megaplasmids that were related phylogenetically to those of rhizobial strains nodulating Phaseolus, Leucaena, Trifolium and Lupinus and were able to reduce nitrate and to hydrolyse aesculin.

The complete 16S rDNA sequence of strain XIL07T was obtained and phylogenetic analysis based on the neighbour-joining method indicated that this bacterium belongs to the high-G + C-content Gram-positive bacteria and that the closest related genera are Promicromonospora and Cellulosimicrobium.

A study was conducted to determine the taxonomic status of six actinomycete strains isolated from root nodules of Lupinus angustifolius, and found that each group represents a novel species of Micromonospora.
