This study found that soil samples of Hamamatsu district, Japan have significantly higher levels of Acanthameba and Hartmannella than those of Thailand which each of them caused death in mice, serving as additional evidence for the presence of free-living amebae under natural and the difference in distribution between tropic and subtropic areas.
