EGCG, a major component of green tea, inhibits tumour growth by inhibiting VEGF induction in human colon carcinoma cells
Green tea catechins may exert at least part of its anticancer effect by inhibiting angiogenesis through blocking the induction of VEGF. Expand
Inhibitory effect of YC-1 on the hypoxic induction of erythropoietin and vascular endothelial growth factor in Hep3B cells.
The results suggest that YC-1 and SNP suppressed the hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF)-1-mediated hypoxic responses by post-translationally inhibiting HIF-1alpha accumulation. Expand
Expression of TRAIL (TNF-related apoptosis-inducing ligand) receptors in cervical cancer.
This study suggests that TRAIL induces apoptosis in cervical cancer through its receptors, and TRAIL-R1 and -R2 were more strongly expressed in tumor cells than normal epithelium. Expand
Molecular authentication of Panax ginseng species by RAPD analysis and PCR-RFLP.

Results suggest that randomly amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) and PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) are able to authenticate the concerned Panax species and broader application of this approach to authenticates other morphologically similar medicinal materials is rationalized. High cyclooxygenase-2 expression in stage IB cervical cancer with lymph node metastasis or parametrial invasion.
The results suggest that the expression of COX-2 in stage IB cervical cancer may downregulate apoptotic processes and thus enhance tumor invasion and metastasis. Expand
Cadmium induces caspase-mediated cell death: suppression by Bcl-2.
Results demonstrate that as in other forms of apoptosis, caspases play a central role in cadmium-induced cell death. Expand
Activation of c-Jun N-terminal kinase 1 (JNK1) in mistletoe lectin II-induced apoptosis of human myeloleukemic U937 cells.
Among the three components, lectin II was the most potent in inducing apoptosis as well as JNK1 activation of U937 cells in a dose- and time-dependent manner. Expand
Nitric oxide inhibits c-Jun N-terminal kinase 2 (JNK2) via S-nitrosylation.
The results indicate that NO may exert a regulatory role of JNK2 activity by S-nitrosylation of the protein in apoptotic signaling pathway, supported by the observation that NO plays an important anti-apoptotic roles in heptocytes, splenocytes, eosinophils and B lymphocytes. Expand
Protective effects of morphine in peroxynitrite-induced apoptosis of primary rat neonatal astrocytes: potential involvement of G protein and phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3 kinase).
It is suggested that morphine may protect primary rat astrocytes from apoptosis by NO species via the signaling cascades that involve both G protein and PI3 kinase. Expand
O2 free radicals: cause of ischemia-reperfusion injury to cardiac Na+-K+-ATPase.

The results strongly suggest that O2 radicals play a crucial role in the injury to sarcolemmal Na+-K+-ATPase during reperfusion of ischemic heart. Expand
