Alkamides are a broad and expanding group of bioactive natural compounds found in at least 33 plant families and are involved in the potentiation of antibiotics and the inhibition of prostaglandin biosynthesis, RNA synthesis and the arachidonic acid metabolism.

The isoflavans 1, 2, and isoduartin (2', 7-dihydroxy-3',4',8-trimethoxyisoflavan) displayed moderate cytotoxic activity against KB cell lines. the structures of 1 and 2 were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic methods.

All the compounds showed in vivo anti-inflammatory activity against ear edema in mice produced by 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol-13-acetate (TPA), and in vitro enzyme inhibition studies showed that the mixture of lanceolitols A1-A7 inhibited by 58.56% phospholipase A2 from bee venom.
