EGCG, a green tea polyphenol, improves endothelial function and insulin sensitivity, reduces blood pressure, and protects against myocardial I/R injury in SHR.
TLDR
It is concluded that acute actions of EGCG to stimulate production of nitric oxide from endothelium using PI 3-kinase-dependent pathways may explain, in part, beneficial effects of E GCG therapy to simultaneously improve metabolic and cardiovascular pathophysiology in SHR.
Endothelial dysfunction in diabetes: from mechanisms to therapeutic targets.
TLDR
Novel therapeutic approaches designed to inhibit AGEs formation, reduce PKC activation, decrease inflammatory signals and restore the ox/redox balance of endothelium may be predicted to ameliorate vascular function in diabetic state.
Endothelin-1: the yin and yang on vascular function.
TLDR
The current knowledge on the role of ET-1 in experimental hypertension is summarized and recent findings on the involvement of MAPK signalling pathways inET-1 release in hypertension associated with insulin resistance are described.
Insulin resistance in spontaneously hypertensive rats is associated with endothelial dysfunction characterized by imbalance between NO and ET-1 production.
TLDR
It is concluded that insulin resistance in SHR is accompanied by endothelial dysfunction in mesenteric vessels with impaired PI3-kinase-dependent NO production and enhanced MAPK-dependent ET-1 secretion.
Vascular actions of insulin with implications for endothelial dysfunction.
TLDR
Signaling pathways involved in insulin-stimulated release of NO, ROS, and ET-1 are described and possible molecular mechanisms by which abnormal insulin signaling may contribute to endothelial dysfunction are suggested.
Epigallocatechin Gallate, a Green Tea Polyphenol, Mediates NO-dependent Vasodilation Using Signaling Pathways in Vascular Endothelium Requiring Reactive Oxygen Species and Fyn*
TLDR
It is concluded that EGCG has endothelial-dependent vasodilator actions mediated by intracellular signaling pathways requiring reactive oxygen species and Fyn that lead to activation of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase, Akt, and eNOS.
Treatment of Spontaneously Hypertensive Rats With Rosiglitazone and/or Enalapril Restores Balance Between Vasodilator and Vasoconstrictor Actions of Insulin With Simultaneous Improvement in
TLDR
Three-week treatment of SHRs with rosiglitazone and/or enalapril significantly reduced blood pressure, insulin resistance, fasting insulin, and ET-1 levels and increased adiponectin levels to values comparable with those observed in vehicle-treated WKY controls.
Hyporeactivity of mesenteric vascular bed in endotoxin-treated rats.
Idiopathic chronic constipation: tachykinins as cotransmitters in colonic contraction
TLDR
This study aimed to examine the direct and nerve‐mediated effect of specific NK1, NK2 and NK3 receptor agonists and antagonists in colonic preparations from control subjects and patients with idiopathic chronic constipation.
Immunoregulatory effects of L-arginine and therapeutical implications.
TLDR
This review will emphasizes some effects of L-arginine on immune cell functions, including triggering of L -argininine-nitric oxide and arginase pathways, its biological properties and therapeutical applications.
