Aflatoxin Contamination of Commercial Maize Products during an Outbreak of Acute Aflatoxicosis in Eastern and Central Kenya
A cross-sectional survey was conducted to assess the extent of market maize contamination and evaluate the relationship between market maize aflatoxin and the aflatoxicosis outbreak in rural Kenya, resulting in 317 cases and 125 deaths in April 2004.
Workgroup Report: Public Health Strategies for Reducing Aflatoxin Exposure in Developing Countries
A workgroup of international experts and health officials convened in Geneva, Switzerland, in July 2005 identified gaps in current knowledge about acute and chronic human health effects of aflatoxins, surveillance and food monitoring, analytic methods, and the efficacy of intervention strategies.
