The authors sequence the genome of Saccharina japonicato to gain insights into the evolutionary adaptation of polysaccharide biosynthesis, iodine concentration and antioxidation mechanisms and the population genetics of kelp domestication.

The result supports the closest relationship of Pseudokeronopsis and Pseudourostyla that forms the so-called Acaudalia Berger (2006) and confirms that Pseudok.

It is hypothesize that the Phyllopharyngea could have evolved from synhymeniids, with the further development of their subkinetal microtubules as one of the major events, and the development of monokinetid structures might have occurred during the diversifications of the microthoracids, syn Hymeniid, and Phyllophilea from a common ancestor.

Re-evaluation of the phylogenetic position of the genus Dexiotrichides (Protozoa, Ciliophora Scuticociliatida) inferred from stomatogenetic and molecular information for Dexiotrichides pangi

Both the divisionary events and the molecular biological data indicate that this species/genus, together with certain other genera in theDexiotricha-complex, occupies an intermediate position between the tetrahymenids and the “typical” scuticociliate∼ which suggests that the DexiotrichA-like taxa should be excluded from the ‘true’ scutica field.
