Partially Unfolded Lysozyme at Neutral pH Agglutinates and Kills Gram-Negative and Gram-Positive Bacteria through Membrane Damage Mechanism
The results introduce an interesting finding that partial unfolding of lysozyme with the proper acquisition of the hydrophobic pocket to the surface can switch its antimicrobial activity to include Gram-negative bacteria without a detrimental effect on the inherent bactericidal effect against Gram-positive ones. Dietary Tricin Suppresses Inflammation-Related Colon Carcinogenesis in Male Crj: CD-1 Mice
Findings that dietary tricin inhibits inflammation-related mouse colon carcinogenesis by suppressing the expression of TNF-α in the nonlesional cyrpts and the proliferation of adenocarcinomas suggest a potential use of tric in for clinical trials of colorectal cancer chemoprevention. Expand
Complexation of fluoxetine hydrochloride with beta-cyclodextrin. A proton magnetic resonance study in aqueous solution.
A proton magnetic resonance spectroscopic study in D2O of mixtures of fluoxetine hydrochloride (guest) with beta-cyclodextrin (host) revealed the existence of two different equilibria for 1:1Expand
Occurence of a sialylglycopeptide and free sialylglycans in hen's egg yolk.
Since the molar value of SGP present in one egg yolk is comparable to those of well-known major yolk proteins, low density lipoprotein, lipovitellins and phosvitin, it can be considered that SGP is one of the major components in hen's egg yolks. Expand
The antioxidant activity of green tea polyphenols in several edible oils and fried noodle was investigated. The green tea polyphenols consisted of 27.1% (−)-epigallocatechin-3-gallate, 19.3%Expand
Synthesis of 1,3-thiazine derivatives and their evaluation as potential antimycobacterial agents.
The results, and especially those for 3a, suggest that 1,3-thiazines are potential lead compounds in the search for new antitubercular agents. Expand
Novel compounds, '1,3-selenazine derivatives' as specific inhibitors of eukaryotic elongation factor-2 kinase.
TS-2 and TS-4 are the first identified selective eEF-2K inhibitors and should be useful tools for studying the function of eEF -2K, according to a postnuclear fraction of v-src-transformed NIH3T3 cells. Expand
Antioxidative Activity of Egg Yolk Phospholipids
The antioxidative activities of 0.1% additional egg yolk lipid (EYL) fractions (egg yolk neutral lipids, EYL-N; egg yolk lipids containing 31.3% phospholipids, EYL-30; egg yolk lipids containingExpand
Acacetin inhibits expression of E-selectin on endothelial cells through regulation of the MAP kinase signaling pathway and activation of NF-κB
Results suggest that acacetin inhibits the expression of E-selectin by regulation of the p38 MAPK signaling pathway and activation of NF-κB. Expand
Luteolin suppresses the differentiation of THP-1 cells through the Inhibition of NOX2 mRNA expression and the membrane translocation of p47phox.
1 completely blocked intracellular ROS generation, whereas it did not inhibit MEK/ERK phosphorylation and pretreatment with 1 suppressed TPA-triggered induction of NOX2 and membrane translocation of p47(phox). Expand
