Steady-state kinetics of lipoxygenase oxygenation of unsaturated fatty acids.
In the very early stages of a typical catalyzed reaction, a lag, or induction period, occurs, and it was previously known that this lag is eliminated by product hydroperoxide--and not by the corresponding alcohol. Expand
Product yield in oxygenation of linoleate by soybean lipoxygenase: the value of the molar extinction coefficient in the spectrophotometric assay.
Spectrophotometric data using the epsilon determined here agree with those from the O2 electrode, and it is concluded that at S less than 200 microM, saturating air, and sufficient enzyme, soybean lipoxygenase-1 produces a sole product and the reaction proceeds to completion. Expand
Oxidation of reduced flavins by quinones.
