Sugarcane (Saccharum sp.) can be regarded as a Na+ excluder under both stresses and a low level of Na+ concentration in the presence of NaCl, providing evidence that proline accumulation is a stress-sensitive trait rather than a stress resistance marker.
Growth, proline and ion accumulation in sugarcane callus cultures under drought-induced osmotic stress and its subsequent relief
It is concluded that the drought stress-induced changes are reversible, at the least at the cellular level, in sugarcane cultivars.
Antibacterial and antioxidant activities of Origanum compactum essential oil
In the present study, essential oil of Origanum compactum was analysed and its chemical composition was identified by gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Among thirty two assayed…
Selection of callus cultures of sugarcane (Saccharum sp.) tolerant to NaCl and their response to salt stress

The results indicated that K+ and Cl− may play a key role in in vitro salt-tolerance in sugarcance cell lines obtained by in vitro selection and that organic solutes could contribute mainly to counteract the negative water potential of the outside medium.
Effect of genotype on callus induction and plant regeneration from leaf explants of sugarcane ( Saccharum sp.)
Nine sugarcane genotypes were evaluated for their callus induction capacity, embryogenic callus production and plant regeneration ability and significant differences were observed between genotypes indicating that these criteria are genotype dependent.
Adenovirus detection in shellfish and urban sewage in Morocco (Casablanca region) by the polymerase chain reaction.
Cytotoxicity and gene induction by some essential oils in the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
Cytotoxic activity of α-humulene and transcaryo- phyllene from Salvia officinalis in animal and human tumor cells
The cytotoxic activity of Salvia officinalis essential oil with its fractions "in vitro" tumor cell lines was evaluated in cellular lines of breast cancer MCF-7, colon cancer HCT-116, and murine macrophage RAW264.7 by the MTT assay.
Genotoxicity and anti-genotoxicity of fennel plant (Foeniculum vulgare Mill) fruit extracts using the somatic mutation and recombination test (SMART)
The results demonstrate that the fennel exerted a significant and potent anti-mutagenic activity in eyes spot of Drosophila melanogaster.
