The Secretaries of the authors' Sections will meet next week and they may be in touch with you with reference to participation in the program, and it is hoped that many of the audience are non-technical people in the area of your' special competence.
PREVENTION OF PNEUMOCOCCAL PNEUMONIA BY IMMUNIZATION WITH SPECIFIC CAPSULAR POLYSACCHARIDES
- C. Macleod, R. G. Hodges, M. Heidelberger, W. Bernhard
- Medicine, BiologyJournal of Experimental Medicine
- 30 November 1945
It is suggested that an over-all reduction in the incidence of carriers was responsible for the lowered rates for pneumococcal pneumonia in the non-immunized group.
Nature From Within: Gustav Theodor Fechner And His Psychophysical Worldview
- M. Heidelberger, Cynthia Klohr
- Psychology
- 29 February 2004
Gustav Theodor Fechner (1801-1887) was a German physicist, psychologist, and philosopher, best known to historians of science as the founder of psychophysics, the experimental study of the relation…
THE SOLUBLE SPECIFIC SUBSTANCE OF PNEUMOCOCCUS
- M. Heidelberger, W. F. Goebel, O. Avery
- BiologyJournal of Experimental Medicine
- 1 July 1923
Improvements in the methods have resulted in the isolation of the end-products in a form free from nitrogen and of enhanced activity with immune serum, and evidence so far accumulated is believed to favor strongly the view that the polysaccharides isolated are the actual specific substances of Pneumococcus.
A QUANTITATIVE STUDY OF THE PRECIPITIN REACTION BETWEEN TYPE III PNEUMOCOCCUS POLYSACCHARIDE AND PURIFIED HOMOLOGOUS ANTIBODY
- M. Heidelberger, F. E. Kendall
- Biology, MedicineJournal of Experimental Medicine
- 30 November 1929
A quantitative study of the reaction between the soluble specific substance of Type III pneumococcus and its homologous antibody has been made and the entire reaction may be expressed by three mass-law equations.
THE MOLECULAR WEIGHT AND ISOELECTRIC POINT OF THYROGLOBULIN
- M. Heidelberger, K. O. Pedersen
- Biology, MedicineThe Journal of General Physiology
- 20 September 1935
The thyroglobulin molecule deviates markedly from the spherical, and the isoelectric point of native hog thyrogLobulin is at pH 4.58, that of denatured thyrogrobulin at pH 5.0.
IMMUNOLOGICAL RELATIONSHIPS OF CELL CONSTITUENTS OF PNEUMOCOCCUS
- O. Avery, M. Heidelberger
- Biology, ChemistryJournal of Experimental Medicine
- 30 June 1923
The protein of pneumococcus, as contrasted with the non-protein soluble specific substance, exhibits species specificity rather than the type specificity characteristic of the latter.

Until far into the second half of the last century, many efforts were made to follow the Newtonian paradigm in taking account of electrodynamic phenomena. One wanted to reduce them to attractive and…
