Analysis of an Ihh null mutant and results suggest a model in which Ihh coordinates diverse aspects of skeletal morphogenesis through PTHrP-dependent and independent processes.

Analysis of the behavioral defects suggests that these genes participate in the diverse locomotion patterns observed, such as touch response, rhythmic tail movements, equilibrium control, or that they simply confer general motility to the animal.
The molecular nature of zebrafish swirl: BMP2 function is essential during early dorsoventral patterning.

It is demonstrated that the swirl phenotype is caused by mutations in the zebrafish bmp2 gene (zbmp2), and analysis shows that swirl/BMP2, unlike mouse Bmp2 but like mouse BMP4, is required for early dorsoventral patterning of theZebrafish embryo.
Genes establishing dorsoventral pattern formation in the zebrafish embryo: the ventral specifying genes.

The similar and overlapping phenotypes of mutants of the 6 genes identified suggest that they function in a common pathway, which begins in oogenesis, but also depends on factors provided after the onset of zygotic transcription, presumably during blastula stages.

It is estimated that the 372 genes defined by the mutants probably represent more than half of all genes that could have been discovered using the criteria of the screen, and the limits and the potentials of a genetic saturation screen in the zebrafish.

Results indicate that PKA acts in target cells as a common negative regulator of Hedgehog signaling, and is suppressed in embryos injected with RNA encoding a constitutively active catalytic subunit of PKA (PKA*).

The results thus highlight novel and crucial in vivo roles for Ncad in the control of cell convergence, maintenance of neuronal positioning and dorsal cell proliferation during vertebrate neural tube development.
Mutations affecting somite formation and patterning in the zebrafish, Danio rerio.
- F. V. van Eeden, M. Granato, C. Nüsslein-Volhard
- BiologyDevelopment

The similarity of the somite phenotype in mutants lacking the notochord and in the you-type mutants suggests that the genes mutated in these two groups are involved in a signaling pathway from theNotochord, important for patterning of the Somites.
