A high prevalence of hypov vitaminosis D is found in the analyzed population, especially in female adolescents, and the factors independently associated with hypovitaminosis D were found to be overweight/obese in boys and low calcium concentrations in girls.
Spirulina does not decrease muscle damage nor oxdidative stress in cycling athletes with adequate nutritional status.
It is concluded that administration of Spirulina does not interfere in the magnitude of muscle damage nor in antioxidant status of cycling athletes that practice intense training.

The study demonstrated the beneficial effect of folate intake in terms of a TAC elevation for the CC and TT genotypes of the MTHFR C677T polymorphism, an increase in folic acid levels for all genotypes, and a reduction in the Hcy levels for the TT genotype in response to an intervention consisting of an intake of 191 µg/d of folates supplied by vegetables.
