In survivors of recent infarction who have not had spontaneous ventricular tachycardia or fibrillation, inducible tachycardsia (but not inducibles fibrills) at programmed stimulation predicts a significant risk of death or spontaneous tachy Cardia orfibrillation.

The antiarrhythmic efficacy of mexiletine hydrochloride was studied in patients with stable resistant ventricular ectopic activity, and its efficacy, low frequency of side effects, and long half-life make it an agent of notable value in suppressing ventricular arrhythmias.
